Laneway Festival is thrilled to announce that D.D Dumbo a.k.a Castlemaine resident Oliver Hugh Perry will be performing at the 2017 Laneway Festival (all Australian dates except Adelaide (TBC)).
D.D Dumbo was recently announced as the winner of triple j’s J Award for Australian Album of the Year for his remarkable debut Utopia Defeated. That album – which includes killer singles ‘Satan’, ‘Walrus’ and ‘Brother’ – was featured on RRR, FBi and RTR, featured as Album of The Day on BBC 6 Music, and scored 4 and 5 star reviews from local and international press.
D.D Dumbo has been on Laneway’s wish-list since 2013, when he released his self-recorded debut EP Tropical Oceans. Led by the spooky strut of the title-track, the lo-fi four song-set of blues- laced, deconstructed pop, announced Perry as an exciting newcomer fluent in a language all his own. He quickly gained a reputation as a formidable live act, playing international festivals including Latitude and Pitchfork Paris and touring Australia and internationally with the likes of Tame Impala, Courtney Barnett, Beirut, St Vincent and others.
These will be D.D Dumbo’s first local shows in almost two years.
